Why is there an expression of interest process for the Lottery Significant Projects Fund?

Submitting an expression of interest (EOI) can help you to find out if Lottery Significant Projects Fund  is the right fund for your project. The EOI option is offered before the Lottery Significant Projects distribution funding round opens.

An EOI is optional – you may request a grant without submitting an expression of interest. However, the EOI process can be very useful as it will:

  • identify early on if your project will not meet the Lottery Significant Projects Fund criteria and requirements
  • help you target your request to Lottery Significant Projects Fund priorities; and
  • provide information, ahead of the distribution funding round, that can help you make a complete request by the Lottery Significant Projects Fund distribution round closing date.

The EOI form is completed online, and is much shorter and less detailed than the form to request a grant.

You need to attach a copy of the feasibility study for your project.

After you submit an EOI, our team will review your project, its scope and the outcomes or benefits you want to achieve. We will provide you with verbal feedback, usually within 10 working days. This will give you time to consider the feedback and to deal with any issues or gaps identified with your proposal before the distribution funding round opens.

We may also advise you that another of our funds would be more suitable for your project, or that your project is not ready for you to make a Lottery Significant Projects Fund request at this stage.

If you want to make a Lottery Significant Projects Fund request and you miss the EOI round, please email significantprojects@dia.govt.nz to see how we can help you.
