The Canterbury / Kaikoura Community committee covers:

  • all communities within the Kaikoura District Council boundaries
  • all communities within the Hurunui, Waimakariri and Selwyn District Council boundaries
  • all communities and suburbs within the Christchurch City Council boundary
  • all communities within the Ashburton, Mackenzie, Timaru and Waimate District Council boundaries
  • all communities within Mackenzie District and Waitaki District north of the Waitaki River
  • the Chatham Islands.

What are the Lottery Canterbury / Kaikoura Community committee outcomes?

The Canterbury Kaikoura Community Committee outcomes are:

  • community connections are improved through a community-led development approach
  • older people have an enhanced quality of life
  • the wellbeing of communities that were impacted by the Canterbury and Kaikoura earthquakes is improved
  • people in rural communities have access to services and an improved quality of life.

Lower priority is given to grant requests:

  • from organisations that receive significant government contract funding or are generally government funded
  • for activities that take place at school, in school time, and are part of the New Zealand school curriculum.
